Absolutely fantastic. The best camera I have ever owned. I'm no professional, I wouldn't know what to do with a DSLR so whats the point. This is really easy to use and takes great pictures.

I will avoid a technical angle in this review as it has been admirably covered by previous buyers. I took the plunge and bought this camera late Sunday night and received it early Tuesday morning, which is excellent. The camera itself so far has been superb and gave me a superb days first shoot of 750 pictures. I had been using a Coolpix for two years and have been amazed at what it could do, but the D40 is superb. A previous reviewer stated that I would be delighted at how well the wide angle lens works, and they were right. I take a lot of action shots in Sports mode of myself and mates clay pigeon shooting, and on day 1 came home with action shots of shooters breaking clays. I purchased this camera about a week ago to replace my Canon S3. The Canon took great pictures but was a little bulky to just pop in my pocket so I was looking for something a little more compact but with a decent sized zoom. After reading a lot of reviews and looking at test pictures I decided to go for the TZ5. My initial thoughts on opening the box were favourable...although it is quite small it is a fairly weighty camera and feels well screwed together. OK first off...it looks great and it feels great and the price is great (got mine from somewhere else because i needed it urgently but GBP£299.99 ain't bad)! The Sony a200K is perfect for anyone upgrading from a digital compact to a DSLR. The picture quality is brilliant and you don't even have to try that hard. The auto-focus and super steady shot make it even easier to produce ecellent photos without breaking a sweat. I will add some photos to the customer image gallery soon so you can all see how amazing the pictures are. It works great with the Sandisk 4GB Extreme III memory card and can produce around 1,000 photos. This is great for anyone going on a long trip like me where you'd want to take loads of photos. My wife, Anna's, specific interest is macro photography (precise close-ups) of things like butterflies and flowers, so macro features and functionality will be the focus of this review. Our previous purchases in the digital photography field have been Fuji: a FinePix S602 (my favourite), then the much more powerful FinePix S9500. This Canon EOS is our first digital SLR. The first, massive, improvement (and, I believe, over the 400D too) is the screen: it's much larger, brighter and clearer. I brought this camera a little over 1 month ago, and after extensive testing on a holiday to Berlin was very impressed with the features on this camera, only down side is the smile feature! i tied it out, and you need to be grinning ear to ear to make it work! but apart from that it is a good camera. Battery life is very good, and there is an internal memory just in case you run out of space on your memory card, i have a 4gb memory card and have found this sufficent for at least 4 days worth of photos, picture quality is very good as is the video recording. i would recomed this camera as it is light , looks good and packed with features.

Amazon say it has USB connection. (Still, now, 3 months after I bought mine) It does not, the 53 and 54 do. it is not just the cable that is lacking as I thought at first - there is no connector socket for USB on the camera. This was the only reason I bought this model!

Just wanted to join the large amount of praise for this lens and thank others for reviews which tempted me to buy! I have just upgraded to a Canon 40D and purchased this lens, as it appeared fantastic value, to got along with my kit lens. Firstly, this lens feels cheap and plasticky and nothing like the 17-85mm lens in the kit. This is totally irrelevant though as the lens is cheap. The pictures are totally stunning and i am over the moon with this lens. The shallow depth of field delivers great portraits which is something very important as I became a dad a couple of months ago so i have a 24 hours a day model at my disposal! The only problem now is that having seen the benefit of prime lens and fast lens i now have lens lust for an L series ... Read More:
