There was no previous review for this video camera, but as the cheaper models seemed to have got quite good reviews and it looks good I thought this would be a safe bet! Unfortunately, although there are some very good features including the bundled software the biggest problem was the noise from the optical zoom. The motor used to move the lens is so loud it is picked up by the microphone, it is so evident on playback that you can't use the zoom function! The auto focus seems slow to respond and not always accurate, so overall I can't recommend this particular model.

If you have a mac and were hoping to edit on your machine..forget it! The format is not compatable with macs..which is a real pain. Other than that, the quality of picture and sound is suprisingly good, considering it is saved to hard drive and it is already compressed before you even download it to your computer.

The camera is very good. clarity is excellent. the problem will come when the battery runs out. the replacement is not available in any of the big shops in london. after nine months i have a good camera i can not use.

I bought my camera from Singapore last year where it was £50 cheaper. My requirement was to combine still camera with movie camera in a super-portable form - and this camera achieves that. The picture is lush... the colours vibrant and sharp. I happily take the camera everywhere....it'll fit comfortably in a trouser pocket (or the wife's handbag)... battery lasts for ages...The quick-start is a real plus - just take off the lens cap and it's shooting. I love the way I can slot the memory card directly into my PC and download the files in seconds. Only complaint is the user manual, which isn't great. I just don't understand why other manufacturers have caught on to this design and functionality!
