Had this for about 6 months now and love it. For some time i had been looking for something i can slip in my pocket but quick and easy to use.I was looking for something that was average video and still quality.Something that was good for family parties and capturing motor racing(my hobby). This CG65 is all of the above. You can even get a waterproof one which would be good in the UK climate.It has lots of useful settings and an easy to follow menu.The only fault i can find with it is that when in low light this gives a less than average picture.I have found the battery life to be good(around 40 mins)and an 8GB SDHC memory card will hold over 5 hours worth video. these cameras are fantastic, yes the standard batteries you get with them suck but you need to use Energizer Ultra Lithium batteries to get the best from your camera and you'll love it, also get a 2GB SD card and you can film in TV resolution for 56 minutes, there are two sound settings, if you are on your bike or doing anything noisy set it to low as advised in the instructions. You can use the head strap to put it under your beanie hat, the helmet mounts for vented and non vented helmets and then you can use the base plate mounts to position the camera almost anywhere else. A beautiful bit of kit that does exactly what it says on the tin. Nice that it includes a 4gb memory stick to get you going. Absolutely everything about it screams high quality, its very easy to operate, a nice weight although its overall size is very small. Its a pity that Vegas 8 isnt included as that will probably be my next purchase, but really you cant have everything I suppose. The face detection software is pretty outstanding, a litte yellow square goes over any subjects faces and when they smile a picture is automatically taken regardless of whether or not you are actually recording whats going on. Hello High Definition recording, goodbye miniDV tapes. none of that real time capturing rubbish anymore. Im smitten.

Panasonic HDC-SD5 High Definiton SD Card Camcorder - Silver This camera is a revelation. The picture quality is excellent and I can't fault the build quality at all. Playback through my TV and computer are top rate but I have had some issues. 1) My six month old Panasonic HDD / Freeview box doesn't recognise the AVCHD card format so I can't play the videos directly from the SD card, it has to go through the wires. 2) My brand new computer will recognise the card but it is very slow to transfer the data. (30 minutes for 7gb). I'm trying to get a firewire lead as my PC has a firewire port but with no luck so far. 3) Low light quality is not very good. 4) The camera is so small and light that it's quite difficult to get a steady picture, I'd strongly ... Firstly battery longivity...on a pair of fully charged rechargable 2000mAh batteries on continuous record i got at least 35 minutes before the indicator started to blink a little,which is a better indication than testing it with the pair it came with or "standard" Duracell. Build quality is quite good. The screen appears sturdy,and it is a small unit therefore it will feel light and it is relatively inexpensive compared with a full blown mini DV Cam (which cost much more).There are pros and cons with all types of cam.This one fits in your pocket, uses handy sd cards and wont cost the earth if lost/stolen.The movie quality is youtube in similarity (i.e. the better ones)and sound is fine. I purchased this from Amazon, and all I can say is how impressive it is. It was ordered at circa 1pm and arrived before 9 the following morning! The machine is very user friendly, and really comes up to the mark. I haven't been disappointed, despite reading some ordinary reviews from other people. The image quality is excellent (admittedly compared to my old tape model), I haven't come across any of the software problems others have faced (I run a PC rather than a Mac) but the photo's aren't exactly great. This last point is the only thing stopping me giving it a 5 star rating. I also like the touch screen functionality.
