The good thing about this camera is its size - it is extremely small and fits easily into a shirt pocket. This is a big plus if you want something that is portable. I was also quite impressed with the sound quality from this camera. However, overall I was disappointed with the camera - particularly in relation to the picture quality which I thought was very poor. I don't know how this camera compares to other cameras in this price range, but I had expected a crisper clearer image. I also found some of the controls on the camera rather small and fiddly to use. I love my Flip camcorder - it's so easy to use - just a couple of buttons and I'm shooting my own movie! The sound quality isn't as great as a standard camcorder but the images are really clear and the software is simple to use so loading to You Tube is very quick and straightforward. It's a great fun camcorder that I can just carry around in my handbag and have out and using in seconds - which is really great at parties.

I spent a long time researching which HD camcorder to buy. I looked at ones that record to hard disk but these have a major disadvantage in that you can not use them at high altitude / low pressure because the hard disc will fail. Not great if you want to film on a skiing holiday. I therefore choose the SD card format (SDHC). These cards are cheap now, 8gb costing 15 to 20 and giving an hours recording on the highest / best quality setting (HF100). I looked at professional / technical reviews and found Canons in general were rated over say Sony or Panasonic and HF100 had a great review. And yes I am very pleased. I brought this item from I T Electronics Ltd mid May 08 via Amazon. Recieved the package in good order and was very important for our forth coming Honeymoon. Unfortuantly the Camcorder came with a European manual and adaptor which is completyly useless, unless you have good Spanish friends and a European-UK adaptor plug. After many phone calls to I T Electronics Ltd and leaving many answer phone messages to replace these items there has been absloutly NO response whatsoever. Even Amazon have wiped this product from my purchase history after sending them emails about I T Electronics Ltd incompatatance. I did quite a bit of research before buying this product (I actually bought a HF100 which is identical apart from the lack of built-in memory) and was very encouraged by all of the glowing reviews, all of which seemed to say that this is the best of the bunch of current consumer HD camcorders. My experience with the product has largely confirmed these verdicts. The camera is compact, a joy to handle, and produces pretty good results in almost all circumstances, except low light conditions. The only significant downside is that the battery life with the standard battery is less than ideal. When fully charged it promises about 60mins of usage, but this is reduced by using the standby facility to more like 40mins or so of active filming. I would recommend the purchase ... Read More:

The must-have feature that clinched the buying decision for me was DV-In so I could record back to tape after editing. Very few budget camcorders have that. I edit using iMovie 2 on an old Mac PowerBook and this model works just fine, both in and out of the Mac's FireWire ports. Time lapse recording is great; leave the Camcorder on a tripod and it will take one frame every 2 to 120 seconds and produce those time-lapse sequences you see on TV. Very cool. My gripes are: (1) the automatic light level setting seems dark to me when filming inside. Any backlighting at all can cause the foreground image to be quite dark.
