Purchased this on impulse as Jessops selling very cheap at the moment about £150 less the the Nikon !
Very impressed with the build quality and has a zoom lock to stop zoom creep altho i don,t think it will happen as zoom quite stiff which brings me to the only negative i can think of ,the zoom is rather stiff hoping it will loosen up a bit but the positive is no zoom creep at all and any angle unlike the Nikon version.
I,ve tested the optics compared to the lens i have at the moment which is the Nikon 18-55mm VR and 55-200mm VR lens, the long end is MUCH sharper then the Nikon 55-200mm VR and provides better contrast as well and at the wide end compares very well to the Nikon 18-55mm VR lens.
Really not that heavy bearing ... Read More:

Got this in July and I simply cannot rate it highly enough. I've used it a lot, getting into Flickr and the like, across a whole range of lighting and situations and it's always done a great job. The automatic settings were ideal for a beginner and I'm still getting to know the vast range of settings using it manually.

The two lens kit is also great, though I'm not sure how long it'll be before I start wanting more lenses and that'll be when it gets costly. For now though this fulfils all my photographic needs and at a great price too.

It's certainly up there with the cheap 50mm f1.8.
What you get is razor sharp images, quality construction and beautiful photos that seem to capture the scene as it appears without the lens putting its own spin on colour or contrast. Bokeh is creamy too.
If you're considering the 75-300mm IS, take a look at this before you buy. What you lose in length and IS you gain back with interest in quality.
My new favourite lens.

This lens has quality written all over it. It comes with a hard plastic hood for the front and back of the lens which then goes into a sturdy, cloth, draw-string bag for extra protection. When you screw the lens on to your camcorder the difference is very impressive. You get far more of your subject and the surroundings into view; this is especially true for indoor filming when you want to get as much of the room into your shot. When added to the camcorder the difference in the weight and feel is negligible, I certainly have no problems in that respect. It's best to hold your camcorder in a perpendicular stance when attaching the lens, and then to gently rotate the lens into the thread of the camcorder until you feel it lock. There is no need to tighten it ... Read More:
