Bought this some months ago from a small independent before it was generally available in Nikon fit with the HSM. Purchased to be able to have a lens that I could just fit to my D40 SLR and do away with all the faffing about changing lenses. Having had a previous bad 'dust on the sensor' experience with a previously owned D50 I wanted to be sure that I needed to swap lenses as few times as possible. Since the day I bought it it has been fitted and never removed as it has suited all the photo opportunities I have encountered. I bought this Hoya filter for £23 including delivery and I'm glad to say it was worth every penny. The quality is almost as good as using my B+W circular polarising filter. The filter can be rotated in the lense mount, provides very good performance and for under £30, there's no reason not to invest in one.

I bought this item specifically because of it's size - and also i hadn't bought a gadget in a while!!! My last purchase was a Canon DSLR and I love it - however it is bigger than my old compact. Amazon has got itself mixed up (as of 28/07/2008). Whilst the product information is correct for this lens, the picture is not! The picture on this page shows a small lens which is acutally the Wide-Angle Conversion Lens, VCL-DH0758. The Amazon page for the Wide-Angle Conversion Lens shows the picture for this product page (!), i.e. the Sony Tele-Angle Conversion Lens, VCL-DH1758. Basically, the pictures for these two are the wrong way round! No doubt Amazon will get around to fixing this error.
