I bought this lens in a pack with the canon 5d body and what a pair they make! This lens was designed for the 5d and was released at the same time. With the 5d being full frame you get the full 24mm at the wide end which is great and it goes all the way to 105mm with no croping/zoom factor typical of crop sensors...If you're using it on a 1.6 crop body you'll get say 39 - 168mm, not exactly wide but it has a handy zoom. The lens is very well built and all the control rings are very smooth. Both rings sport rubber grips that are comfortable and easy to hold. Ive just started A level photography and decided to buy a good camera. Stright away I thought of Cannon as they have a good reputation. I brought the Cannon 450D. After about 5 days it was just not what I was looking for, the live view wasent amazing and the standard lens was not good enough for the price I paid. I decided to go for the Sony a350. WOW what a differance, the live view was fantastic. The standard lens was great and the 14MP made alot of differance when zoomed in. I'll start by clarifying why I gave this only 3 stars, the lens is such a huge let down. The Canon 400D in itself is a fantastic camera. The picture quality is excellent and the 10.1mp is more than enough for the amateur photographer to create extremely decent photos that can be blown up to poster size and put on the wall. The speed of the camera is fairly decent, it shoots at 3 frames per second. Bear in mind this is an amateur camera it's very fast. The 2.5" screen is a good size to preview images and is very clear. I find the camera is very easy to use if you are new to the world of Digital SLR and yet still has enough complex features to be able to customize your photography. If you've lost the eyecup for an EOS 300D (like I did), this CUPEF eyecup will fit fine.

I had mixed feelings about this hood. Is certanly very cheap compared to the others in the market and somepeople think is good value for money. The main problem is that fiddly to fit in and remove ( it can take up to a minute ) and it can be slighty frustrating. The shape is a bit odd and makes your lens look ugly. Do I recommend it ? I sold mine on amazon market place and bought a EW hood and I am happier with the result 3 and a half stars , mainly due to be value for money
