I have been using this pan head with a Manfrotto MN-055 PROB tripod for about a year and I am very pleased with it. The build quality is great and it still handles like new. Panning in all directions is pretty smooth and the handles have really nice grips. The only problem is when tightening the pan head there is a small amount of movement meaning that precise locating in changing situations can be difficult but for the price this is a small issue. It is quite a heavy piece of equipment but this gives the pan head its stability. I often use the pan head with a nikon D80 and Sigma 50-500mm lens, which is a heavy combination but there is no movement in any of the bearings and the pan head feels rock solid. In conclusion, a great product at a ... Read More:

If you need a monopod, & you will if useing a long len's to stop the dreaded camera shake, this is ( for the price ) exellent.
Although it is alloy is is sturdy, light, & small enough to attach to your camera bag.
The small cap, on top of the screw which attaches to your camera, is bound to get lost but a dust cap of a car tyre ( if small ) fit's as well.

I like this Monopod a great deal; the clips are sturdy, hold well, and yet are not too much of a struggle to unclip - they can be adjusted with the tool provided. The weight of the monopod means that with care, it's possible to get a steady image even at quite low light levels, and I've even been able to use this successfully at night, which I haven't been able to do with light-weight, flimsier monopods.

I teamed this with the quick release head, and am glad I did so; the benefits of using a monopod over a tripod are the maneuverability and portability, so having to screw in and unscrew the camera each use could be tedious, and would certainly negate some of those benefits.

It feels like that you're ready to make your own film. Keeps the camera very still and goes impressivly high. You can loosen the bolts on the tripod so you can slowly turn the tripod left/right/up or down like real camera men do, or tighten it so it doesn't move a muscle.

The remote gives you all the power in your hand. It sticks out like a handle and fits firmly in your hand. But I have a remote control for my camera anyway so it doesn't make a difference. But if you don't have a remote for your cam, this remote is very useful.

Before buying, make sure this is compatable with your Sony camcorder. If so, you will not be disappointed. And by the way, it comes with a carrying bag; hozaah!
