This book is great. I now own 4 of Rachel's cookbooks and all of them haven't disappointed me. The recipes are simple to follow and the end results are excellent. I've a shelf full of cookbooks that I've only used once for twice for the odd recipe but Rachels books are so good I keep them permanently on the breakfast bar. Highly recommended.

A lot of the recipes can be got from the web but for the pictures and the recipes themselves buy yourself the book (or better still, buy for he/she who lurks in the kitchen area). The chocolate brownie recipe is a personal favourite featuring their inspired use of raspberries and (as they keep for ages) you don't really have to share them with anyone else.

Nigella does it again. She writes great recipes with such relish and personality to her writing. I just love her mince pie recipes, the pastry is just superb!!! Also try the Rocky Road recipe, I have tried this from her Nigella Express book but the Xmas recipe for this is even richer!! Sound good recipes, tested and tried out. Great artwork and illustrations, for me it is the best Christmas recipe book I have to date!!

I received it yesterday and I'm impressed! There are a lot of very simple, clearly and traceable recipes with beautiful pictures in it. I love all of them. I'm looking forward to cook something from it.

First saw this cookbook in my sister's house and asked her to photocopy me a few recipes so I could try them...by the end of the week I'd cooked them all so decided to buy it for myself! We both cooked a three-course meal from this book for our other halves and it was empty plates all round - a good sign that this is tasty food that just happens to be healthy!I've made about 20 things so far and they've all been gorgeous. None of it is rocket science, just simple substitutions and hints for food you would make every day. Carbonara is one of my husband's favourite dinners and now he prefers this version. This book says everything in it's title ""Every Day" .. If you're looking for good, honest, tasty family food that can be eaten at any time of year with easy to follow recipes that don't take too long to prepare, or cook, then this is the book for you. We can't rate it - or another of Bill's books, Simply Bill - highly enough. In fact, we've just bought two more, and after a hard day at work we're just about to cook his "Fragrant Chicken and Spinach Curry". Delicious!!

We went to the East Midland Food show this year where Anjum was doing cookery demonstrations. She is passionate about her cooking and explains her methods and ingredients simply and effectively. I've made a few of the dishes in here and found inspiration for some of my own based around the core recipes in this book. I'd recommend the yogurt based curry - very healthy with little fat or oil and very tasty. A winner with all the family.

I love this book!! Every recipe that i have tried has turned out perfectly. The lemon tart and the carrot cake are both divine and I have also recently made the banana nut loaf (which sounded rather unappealing as i'm not a huge fan of bananas) and it was delicious! The lamb biryani is fabulous and the kedgeree is a regular favourite in my house now. Every recipe has a story and the whole book makes for a great read - i regularly dip into it even if i'm not looking for a particular recipe - it definately has that feel good factor for foodies. I have bought it for my friends and they love it too. I do hope Angela writes another one soon - 50 recipes are just not enough when they are this good!

Before writing this review I had a read through some of the others that had been written. I was most interested by the one star reviews, irritation at the inclusion of the authors memories, and the categorisation of the recipes by colour. The organisation of the recipes by colour, I feel, is quite a nice novel touch - certainly pleasing on the eye. As for the inclusion of the authors memories? I thing this is one of the nicest things about the book. Tessa Kiros has an evocative way of writing and I can lose myself in her words (or they draw up my memories). Everything is interspersed with gorgeous photos. As for the recipes - there is a lovely range. Some fairly simplistic admittedly, but plenty to inspire any cook.
