The content is funny but in a juvenile kind of way, would appeal to pre-teens. Very short but thats to be expected for the money. More of a stocking filler gift.

This book is a collection of perfect poems. I enjoyed most of them, however, some of the long ones made me a bit bored. My favourite poem is called `Butter and Margarine' because it is very funny and (kind of) original. It starts with: `Row, Row, Row your Boat, Gently down the Stream, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily'. Then it goes on to say `Life is but a - no it's not, it's margarine!' It is a bit of a joke but then again most of Michael Rosen (the poet)'s poems are hilarious! I would really rate this book 7/ 10 and would strongly recommend it to anyone in the need of a good laugh!

Our teachers in infant school used to read this book to us all the time! We all adored these poems - they're funny, touching and highly memorable. Tales of Eddie (usually throwing a wobbly), and the secret eating of the chocolate cake have stayed with me for years and years as happy reminders of primary school. I recommend this book to any infant school teacher, and defy anyone who reads this book and doesn't enjoy it. Everyone should have a copy - I'm so happy that it's been re-published! I had to search eBay for a copy a few years back for my sister (who's now an infant school teacher), as I couldn't find it anywhere! I realised Michael Rosen was an outstanding person when I met him myself (he came to visit my junior school). He seemed very funny and up-beat. He writes humourous poems, as you can tell by the title of the book 'Centrally Heated Knickers'. He writes a lot about his childhood, and in this book his choice of subjects are really strange. He writes about cool buggies, in 'Boogy Woogy Buggy', saucepans, in 'Woolly Saucepan?', cow fashion in a poem called 'Cow Shoes' and even, in every book, 'granma's hands' (but not literally!). You might say the things he writes about are weird, but the poems are really imaginative and very funny. A lovely book, recommended by a friend. Those who have lost someone close, whoever it is should read this book. It tells it like it is. Have brought an extra copy for another friend.

After buying this book for friends' kids aged 3 and 4, I bought this for some older kids (age 7 and 9). But then I thought that they were too old for it. I shouldn't have worried. The kids loved it and and competed to see how many poems they could recite on their own. And by the end of the week we were ALL saying "Don't! Don't! Don't do that!" Brilliant!

I'm in Year 6. We read this book in Group Reading sessions. There are a variety of story types, some are funny, some scarey. The scarey ones were the most popular! I really enjoyed it and recommend this book.

My little boy got given this book for CHristmas last year and loves it so much that I could probably quote it all the way through, I've read it so often. Okay, there's not a strong story but what do you expect for a cartoon book for pre-schoolers? The rhymes are cute and the pictures are great - we love it, and so do all the kids at nursery!
