I just finished reading Artemis Fowl and The Time Paradox and I'm happy to say that I really enjoyed it. It's difficult to sustain a series without it getting old and repetitive, but I think Colfer has managed it. Maybe it's because it's been a while since the last in the series came out, I don't know, but I loved it. I was gripped by the action while still learning new things about the characters and having a laugh along the way as well. Bring on the next one!

this book drags on and on without actually going anywhere, and was incredibly boring, around 600 pages are about finding something to eat and getting a sword. suddenly roran has become as powerful as eragon (the book gives no reason) and can kill 200 men with only a hammer while everyone else stands around chatting. this book is not the last in the series and doesn't add anything really so avoid it and buy the next one (the conclusion)if you like this series. you wont have missed anything

This prequel is the story of how Lee Scoresby met Iorek Byrnison (characters in the His Dark Materials trilogy, and if you haven't read that, better to start there than here). It might fairly be classed as a ripping yarn. It's a tale well told, charmingly illustrated with engravings by John Lawrence: inessential but fun.

I hate to give bad reviews, but my son and I were pretty disappointed with Superior Saturday. I've read all the series to him as bedtime reading, and we enjoyed them all so far. I don't know what happened with this one. The plot never really took off - are we supposed to get excited about tightening screws in a giant office building? Just when we thought something interesting might be about to happen, the book ended. I guess people who've come this far with the series will read it, and I will still read the final instalment to my son, but we do feel cheated by this obvious filler book.

Superb. The story translates VERY well, and the guile and craft is maintained expertly. Read it, whether you've read the original book or not. I read graphic novels and this one stand out as a great one, good story and, for once, fine art, not any sketchy rubbish!

These audiobooks are brilliant. The voices and narration are wonderfully rich and varied, the stories are incredible and yet still credible enough to work. The pictures painted in the reader's imagination through the vocabulary used by the author are amazing - the reader can almost smell the smells, touch the textures and really see the colours within the scenes, and the narrator brings the books to life wonderfully. I now have all 7 of the Alex Rider books on CD, and would recommend any of them to anyone. They are suitable for teen readers, but also perfectly enjoyable for adults - I listen to them in the car on my commute to and from work, and it provides a very welcome distraction from the concerns of work! Please dont let him write another. Great Britain has the worlds greatest authors. Anthony Horowitz; Alex Rider, Jason Steed, Ravens Gate, Necropolis. Joe Craig: Jimmy Coates. Robert Muchamore: Cherub. All three authors have proved themselves as being the best teen spy writers not only in the country but the world. Joe Craig who brought us Jimmy Coates is also the couson of James Bond Actor Daniel Crag. Yet we have comedian Charlie Higson and part time author writing the young adventures of the great fictional character in the world. This book is fast paced action and it delivers. If you're expecting an exceptional use of the english language then prepare to be disappointed. It is a fun and delicious fantasy story that combines many different elements the young girl on a quest, the oddball hero and the battle between good and evil, all used to great effect. It is not a pretentious book but a simple read no word weaving only action. But read this before bed and be prepared to have a smile on your face. I was left wishing I was Valkyrie Cain and I wanted to be 10 again so I could reenact some of the fight scenes without looking too silly.

I've already read this entire series. I was in America a couple of years ago and bought all six books in two volumes. You'll be pleased to that whilst it is not in the same league as the Abhorsen trilogy, it does improve as Garth Nix reveals more of the back story about the Sunstones and the Spiritshadows and the past of the Castle of Seven. The characters develop more and you actually begin to care about them and what happens to them. I recommend that even if you're unsure about this one, stick with it, they do get much better

Well once again Mr Horrowitz has outdone himself.I read to the middle then finished it off in 2 days. I couldnt wait to get my hands on this and as the others have said I wasnt disapointed either. Now I have to wait for the next installment.Im a mature woman and love this series of books.
