This book is really clear in showing the practicalities of project management. I like the way its structured into chapters like: planning, risk & issue mgmt, quality, leading effective teams etc ... and I must say that I like he inclusion of the "It shouldn't happen to a project manager (but it did)" boxes, it just makes you realise you are reading about 'real life scenarios' and sometimes puts your own woes into perspective. One of those books you can refer to time and time and lend out to your friends in the PM world. Handy to read on the train!

Yes! could have been more appropriately titled as Influence 2 because the book is simply a series of brief examples that illustrate Professor Robert Cialdini's key principles described in his book, Influence (social proof, authority, commitment/consistency, scarcity, reciprocity, and personal liking). If you loved that book and want to dive deeper into its lessons, Yes! is a perfect choice.

If you haven't yet read Influence, I recommend that you read that book before this one. Without Professor's explanations of why these principles work, the case histories in Yes! don't seem so special and interesting. Otherwise, you will probably just see Yes! as a bunch of unrelated stories, many of which don't apply to your marketing ... Read More:

I am often asked to train people on presentation skills, and heartily recommend this book to everyone who attends. Bob's book is well-structured, clearly-written, memorable, attention-grabbing and funny in the right places - just like a good presentation. When I was asked to do some public speaking it was a case of 'physician heal thyself' and as well as taking my own medicine, I turned back to Bob's book and it was a fantastic resource.

I am about to embark on a new journey that will involve workshops and having my previous experience of running workshops I was very panicky. Would I be able to deliver the workshops? Would I know enough warm ups/ice breakers etc? And loads of other questions zipped through my mind!

Lucky for me I bought this book and once it arrived it took me 2 days to read it through. This is a book I can safely recommend to anyone needing guidance in creating workshops. Never in a million years would I have thought about using playdoh and board games as tools but this book explains why activities shouldn't just be plain powerpoint slides you can safely shake things up without losing the essence of the workshop.

I have heaps of ideas I cannot ... Read More:

A down to earth, common sense method of getting to meet people, buy them a coffee and sell them something big.

This book is almost the same as the day of training I received from Andy himself last year.

The important points, the 'AFTERS' and how to best invite yourself into a group of people whilst networking - they are all in here and have helped the co. I'm working for to win another sizeable contract. 5-stars.

I have read a fair few books that promise to give the secrets of how to be a good manager. Most of them are very long winded. What I liked most about this book is that it is very condensed, has been written in a very easy to read style and gives small accurate summaries. Nic certainly comes over as a person who knows his stuff and as a boss you would like to work for - no easy task. I read this book over Christmas and it was the surprise hit of the season. Definitely worth a five star review and money well spent.

Like the previous reviewer, I bought this while rushing through the airport. Yes, it would have been cheaper to have bought it via Amazon, but sometimes you can't beat an impulse purchase!

NLP is more of an approach or framework rather than a specific technique. In fact, there are a number of different NLP techniques (a number of them are described in this book) and what is important is that you identify the techniques that work for you in your environment. This book is a great introduction, well laid out and easy to read - I managed to read it cover to cover on a return flight between London and Edinburgh. The examples add value, although some of them feel a little superfluous in places. The "pacing and leading" technique I found particularly useful/interesting, ... Read More:
