I personally loved this book. It is not a particularly (if at all) 'intellectual' book - it is a romance and thriller novel that spans so many pages it manages to find itself wound up as a tome of a book. Nevertheless, if you are going on a trip or find yourself needing something to read, give this a try. It is not as difficult as it may appear, and, quite fun!

What an excellent Tudor mystery - Sansom really brings Tudor life 'back to life'! If you enjoy grizzly murder mysteries with twists and turns then this is for you. It is well up to the standard of the previous 3 Shardlake novels and we can only hope the fourth one will not be too long in arriving! Read and enjoy - one to immerse onself in on a cold winter night!

Compared to the mastery of Robert Harris' other work - of which I am a huge fan, this is a dreadful, dull, uninspiring, completely unbelievable read. What a waste of time!

This book is one of the best I've read!! Captured the life and times in such a wonderful way - couldn't put it down!!

This is a very poor book and a big disappointment for any Grisham fan. It smacks of Grisham having to churn out something to meet a contract rather than the normal standard of his work. Try buying "The Innocent Man" by this author instead.

I picked this book up not really knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised and was gripped from the very beginning - I must say the very first line of the story is probably among the most intriguing ever: "The last camel collapsed at noon." Great alternate spy/spycatcher chapter format to keep the chase alive and the pages turning, though I'm subtracting a point for some clumsy eroticism. I suppose that the spy thriller genre demands it, but I just cringe and feel like I'm reading Mills & Boone or something. Otherwise pick up this book and enjoy.

I studied this period (and this battle in particular) during my history degree in the early 90's and decided that I would delve back in time to remind myself what this was all about. Azincourt was my companion on a return flight to Bahrain recently and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Historically interesting, full of action and detail it really had me turning pages through both flights! When I landed at Gatwick I was disappointed to have to find another book to read. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a passing interest in medieval history, but it's easily accessible to absolutely anyone who enjoys as good action adventure.

I really enjoyed this latest effort from a former master storyteller. Jeffrey is back on fire. He obviously had plenty of time to think about this novel while in court and in prison and it shows. It is a well crafted and the plot races along. We get plenty of insight into British upper classes and law courts which are described better (and more realistically) than the East End characters. Not arty but very entertaining.

Why cant Conn Iggulden write any faster? Have to say, another triumph. I love the way he writes, you feel like you are part of the whole journey. It's clever as well, because the heroes aren't heroes, there just as nasty as the bad guys, however they are your bad guys! Going to be depressed again now waiting ages for his next one :-(

A great read. The only problem was that i had to get up for work the next day when i had been reading the book all night. A very compelling story. I have only just got into Cornwell and am reading everything he has written. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
