I was really impressed by this book.

It was extremely easy to read, with the chapters broken down into nice small chunks. I'm not that much of a reader but I found this book really user-friendly. You get a real feel for the Pen Green Centres positive attitude towards the parents, which the majority feel let down by the education system.
I found the information in the book not only practical but encouraging too (full of lots of tried and tested ideas from the Pen Green Team).

I've used this book so much for much for my university work. I would seriously recommend it to anyone who has an essay about partnership with parents.
I would also recommend this book to anyone who works with children in schools or nurseries. ... Read More:

We were told by our university that this was a highly recommened book, and they weren't wrong. If you are studying Early Years and want a book that covers services, policy,practice and diversity within Early Years then this is a good book to start with. Easy to read, you'll probably find what you are looking for.

A clear and well set out book detailing approximately 20 theorists who have had influences in the way we approach early years education.
I would normally dip in and out of text books but this one I was happy to read as it's set out in such a undemanding and informative way.

The book is set out with headings about each theorist's;
- Life and upbringing
- Books and writing
- Their theory
- How those theories have been put into practise and their influence

The author also critiques the theories and provides web sites and books to find out more about each one.

Whilst it's definitely a useful book and one I've found interesting, I had hoped to find some information on Maslow, Rogers ... Read More:

I am an undergraduate early childhood studies student, undertaking a research project. I found this book very easy going to read and all research terms where introduced and explained clearly. The book is written by very experienced researchers and this is reflected in the text. The book covers all areas in great depth (ethics, paradigms, methods, analysis) and provide easy to understand examples. The book also presents research in an exciting, exploritory way.
