I am in general a supporter of the Dalai Lama and his cause. I was however surpriced with how obsessed this book is with materialism and disease. Somehow I hadn't expected this from him, but maybe that's just me. not so wise, but some good reads in there anyway.

after reading this book,i cant say i see myself any different than before,but i did learn new ways to see things around me,and by seeing them differently than before i can control myself far better,not getting so annoyed at stupid things at work,so give it a try it might help you.

This is a book of fortune cookie style utterances. It'll teach you little about Buddhism and is more of a novelty item. It's small though so it would actually fit inside a large fortune cookie!

The sort of book that makes you think lifes not so bad after all...worth having

Rather simplistic even bigotted in parts. There are many better introductions to be had.

I couldn't put this book down, it was warming to read what His Holiness had to say about people around the world. If you are religious or not this book is worth reading, it will give you a better understanding of people of all backgrounds and how we are all different but still human beings. This was my first book I have read by HH Dalai Lama and I know this will not be the last. Such a great man!

I read 'The Tibetan Book of Living And Dying' in the course of 10 years - I simply had to stop to digest/meditate after almost every page. It is so filled with advice for the living, the dying, and those inbetween. You don't have to be a buddhist to benefit from this book. Sogyal Rinpoche is so well founded in western thought and draws on many sources (including Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and Raymond Moody) ...and the writing is very straightforward. I am very much looking forward to read it again ...and to give away a few more copies.

This book is filled with contradictions and false assumptions. The patronizing, didactic tone is at first irritating but soon becomes boring. If you need something to help you sleep at night, this book may be what you're looking for. If you want to learn about Buddhism, look elsewhere.
