OK, so some of the associations are a bit dodgy, but I actually found this to be really funny, which ultimately helped me to remember the words. With only 200 words you're not going to become fluent, however I found the vocab to be really useful when used in conjunction with Michel Thomas' 8 disc foundation course (which concentrates more on sentence structure and verbs). My husband didn't use Instant Recall (and only did 6 of the 8 Michel Thomas discs) and it was surprising how much I had to translate/communicate during our recent trip to Cuba. ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY. I PURCHASED THIS BOOK A GOOD FEW YEARS AGO. I USE IT ALL THE TIME IN BETWEEN MY CLASSES AT NIGHT SCHOOL AND ALWAYS REFER BACK TO IT WHEN WE MOVE TO DIFFERENT USES OF VERBS IN CLASS. I DO THE EXERCISES IN A A4 SCRAP PAD THAT WAY THE BOOK CAN BE USED OVER AND OVER AGAIN, THEN I CHECK THE ANSWERS FROM THE BACK OF THE BOOK. I HAVE EVEN BOUGHT THIS BOOK FOR A GOOD FRIEND AND HE AND HIS CO WORKER THINK IT IS EXCELLENT. PRONOUNS AND PREPOSITIONS .....COMPLETE SPANISH GRAMMAR ....AND SPANISH VOCABULARY ....ARE ALL VERY USEFUL BOOKS IN THE LEARNING RANGE ALSO.

I PURCHASED THIS BOOK ALONG WITH THE SPANISH VERBS AND THEY ARE EXCELLENT BOOKS. I USE AN A4 WRITING PAD TO WRITE MY ANSWERS TO THE EXERCISES THAT WAY THE BOOK CAN BE USED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. A VERY USEFUL BOOK TO KEEP REFERRING BACK TO. WORTH THE MONEY

I'm studying Spanish and trying to get to grips with the tenses. This book is simple, well organised and has an extensive content. With all the knowledge crammed in, it's quite a thick, heavy book and can be quite a pain to hulk around. But in my view if you want a comprehensive book, it won't ever be light weight. Fabulous buy.

Book is a good on getting refresh on verbs but I found there quite a many "errors" (not really errors but weird way of putting sentence together, looked like it was translated directly from English. I am not native English speaker so I spotted those). There was sentences is Spanish that you wouldn't say in castellano perhaps something that is common in Latin America. IMHO If you want to learn castellano find some book written by Spanish but if you just want to play around verbs and get some refresh on Spanish I think this is ok.

Nice slim book that does what it says in the title. Cheap, light, easily popped in your suitcase or bag and covers most everyday situations. Its more useful for holidays than anything else and I only really used it a couple of times as I preferred the lonely planet fast talk guide. Although its slim, it is quite 'tall' so you can't pop it in your pocket.

This is great... backed up with other learning materials, you get an expansive vocab quickly. Now I have read one review for the Italian version, by the same author saying that it is a palaver learning the Italian word, associating it with and english word... this just demonstrates a severe lack of imagination, and brain power. The method is simple, and with perseverence works wel.. Look at the word, and got with the scene given to you by the author to help you remember it.. Give it colours, smells, feeling and the more you do, the easier you will remember... if the scene given does not work, then choose your own... Think of it, picture it for 10 seconds, and then move on to the next. You will be amazed at how quickly you will create a large vocbulary ... Read More:

I bought this alongside the Spanish Grammar book as they are both set books for the OU course. High St book shops are a lot more expensive,I saved £5.00!! Both books are set out in a really easy & logical format. Highly recommended

this is a useful cd to have and it does help you to learn spanish wherever, as long as you have a cd player with you. but if you have time to spare sitting in front of a computer screen i would recomend going to the bbc website first, it offers all that this cd offers and more for free and in a similar format called mi vida loca which not only offers audio( like the cd ) but video and is a hell of a lot more interactive.

I bought this last week and it's brilliant - I've just ordered the second volume. It totally suits my way of learning and is very easy to use. it does work rapidly and is much more pleasnt to listen to than those dreadful CD's with mock conversations in them. i'm really enjoying using it. HIghly effective - would recommend! :)
