One Of The Boys,Gretchens 3rd album has a slight change in direction from her previous 2 albums.It's more mellow,easy listening country. It includes the ballad Come To Bed which features John Rich on harmonies,the smart witty uptempo If You Want A Mother(great lyrics to this)and the tongue in cheek uptempo There Goes The Neighbourhood. Other standouts are The girl I Am,One Of The Boys,Painkiller(great ballad)and Good Ole Boy. The theme of this album is most definately about Gretchen given the listener a more personal insight into the woman she really is! Not her strongest album,compared to Here For The Party and All Jacked Up but it is still a great album that should be included in your country collection....

Gretchens debut Here For The Party was hugely successful,going 5x platinum!And rightly so... There's the big hits Here For The Party,Homewreaker,When I Think About Cheatin' and her big signature song Redneck Woman-this song will be stuck in your head. But there's other gems too,such as the cracking toe tapping When It Rains(so catchy)plus the lovely ballads Holdin' You and What Happened-this has a nice acoustic sound to it. She wraps up the album with the great uptempo Pocahontas Proud which gives us an insight into her life before she became a big country star. Gretchen is as country as it gets,so if you love your country then this album is an essential to your collection...

I have had this disc for a week or so now and am currently playing it in my car. It is so good, there are many duets on it where Deana is singing with the actual songwriters and it is good to hear their voices appear as you are listening to Deana's version. I guess my favourite is 'I'm Not Lisa' with Jessi Colter but also great to hear Dolly Parton, Kris Kristopherson and George Jones appear also. I really recommend this record her voice is so suited to this selection of music.

i have owned this cd for about 6 months and if it was vynil there would be no grooves left by now! she is as good as any ive heard...and i am a massive country fan.My favs are I DONT and somebody for you.I love the unique texture of her voice and she sings every track (they are all good) with maximum feeling.FAULTLESS.

Being a metal/rock fan, I happened upon this lady by trying to find a good radio station whilst busy in the kitchen. I heard Gunpowder & Lead being played and loved it instantly! Turned out I had tuned into a C & W awards countdown for female artists. I hurried to the computer & bought this CD. I've always liked the old C&W due to my Dad listening to it, but never bought anything myself. Well this CD is fantastic! Its cheery, upbeat & fun :) I have been looking around for something similar and hope I'm going to stumble on another groovy chick to give my ears a rest from all the shouting & screaming I normally listen to! Miranda you ROCK!!!

This CD is fantastic - a return to form for the First Lady of Country music. From the opening track, the lyrics and music flow easily, and are all likeable, 'catchy' and heartfelt. Ofcourse they are stand out tracks - the first single, 'Better Get To Living' but also the wonderfully up-lifting 'Jesus & Gravity' and the great 'Shinola' (a track where Dolly gets mad and even!). Plus an amazingly original cover version of 'She Drives Me Crazy', where Dolly add's her own touch of 'crazy'! Most of the tracks tell a story and so many, it seems, come - possibly - from Dolly's own life experience's, especially the title-track 'Backwoods Barbie'. And top marks have to be given for the art-work of the album - Dolly looks 'the part'. ... Read More:
