My Mom and I used this book on a recent visit to Seville. Using the detailed maps we were able to navigate even the tiniest roads in the old town. I was continually surprised when I would say, "on the next corner is the [whatever we wanted to find]" and it was always there. That's a great recommendation!

With the beautiful pictures and good basic summaries of things to see and do, we were able to choose exactly how to spend our time - and we weren't lead astray.

Restaurant recommendations were also very fair and accurate - and we dined superbly.

I now always check to see if there's an Eyewitness Guide for somewhere I'm traveling.

Despite an unusually high number of flaws, this is nevertheless a book that will help you get the most out of your time in Andalucia.

Perhaps I just expect too much of Lonely Planet (LP), but it's their own fault. They've stood by me so many times in so many different places in the past that I was beginning to take everything they told me as The Only Advice In Town. So when I arrived in Seville I quickly got into the LP groove and hit La Bella Estrella, a "jazz bar".

Well, perhaps I'd arrived the day they buried the proprietor, but there was no jazz going on there, so off I went to Naima Café Jazz, happily only about five doors away down Calle Trajan. A bit better, but still not the place I expected ... Read More:

There are some writers who just create seamless prose that reads like it's always been there on the page and they just traced over the words. Well, for me, this was one of those books. I loved it from beginning to end. It tells the story of Lev, an "economic migrant" from the East, and his search for work, and life. It is probably a little too rose tinted to be real, and I doubt there are many migrants so lucky as Lev, but I so wanted him to succeed.

I am a huge Marian Keyes fan but I am finding this book so depressing (am about half-way through) that I haven't been able to pick it up for about 2 weeks.
It is fair enough to deal with "gritty" subjects, but if I want to read a book like that I'll go and buy one. With Marian, you can normally rely on the storyline and topics, and you know what you're getting. With this one, you don't.
I actually like the Lola parts - they are the only funny bits I've found so far - it's the other parts I don't enjoy. It is also very long drawn-out and although I'm half-way through I am still not sure what the "secret" and the point of it is - either it is terrifically obvious and I have already guessed it, or it is something very unexpected and I have to wait ... I actually just read this for the second time before posting a review and liked it slightly better than I did the first time. The writing's elegant but light and therefore easy to read but... I don't believe in Pippa Lee, she's not a real person, and if she were, she's not somebody I'd want to know. There's not really much of a plot, and what there is ties up far too conveniently at the end with none of the moral dilemma which would have made it interesting - although given Pippa's previous track record, there wouldn't have been much of a dilemma anyway. It's OK but doesn't hook you in emotionally, I can't believe they're making a film of it.

I have only had these scales a few weeks, but i think they are brilliant. I only wish i had bought them ages ago. They make cooking so easy. The scales are so self explanatory that no instrustions are required.
They are slim and so easy to store away.
Only problem is im baking cakes all the time now, just to have an excuse to use my scales.
Money well spent.
