This is an amazing item, I have tried many diferent techniques to learn Italian and this is by far the best. I really do encourage you to buy this you won't regret it. The voices used are really good as well, they saying everything clearly allowing you to understand quicker. The music is also an added bonus it allows the words to stick in your brain faster, and makes the experience alot more enjoyable. With this product its not a matter of having to use it, but you want to use it. Fantastic.

I purchased this book for a recent trip to Italy and I couldn't have done without it. The menu reader was excellent as was the section on travel. Many Italians were just impressed I tried. Many of the words were also put into useful phrases and the more difficlt words were spelt out phonetically for ease of pronunciation. I would reccomend it for any trip around Italy.

I am currently doing a intermediate level of italian but find it always useful to remember the key verbs. I have used a lot of italian books in order to understand italian and this one explains and does what it says ''drills'' those verbs into your mind with a good set of exercises. A well organized easy to understand book perfect for beginners of Italian! I would seriously recommend it.

This is an excellent little book, as long as you use the CD with it. I didn't give it five stars because I feel that in some areas the authors were trying to get too much grammar in than can be absorbed all at once , and I think a few solid written texts ( short adapted and graded extracts from newspapers or letter, articles etc) would've helped rather than just short dialogues. Nevertheless, I've learnt quite a bit and think that by the time I visit Italy I'll be able to get by without getting lost or arrested!

Being a beginner in Italian I have bought other books which are difficult to get in to. However this book is excellent and the cassettes which accompany them are fantastic. They give you the chance to repeat what is said in dialogues and are very good.

This is a book with no pretentions. It starts simply and ends simply but, in between, it gives you a chance to learn some basic Italian. I bought the book as I was going to Venice and wanted to learn a few words of Italian because I reckoned it was only polite to try and use a "buonasera" here or a "molto grazie" there. Italian for Beginners excelled. In the space of a few nights of intensive study - reading and writing down what I'd learned, listening to the audio on my MP3 at home and in the supermarket and on CD in the car - I took in much more than such a modest little book seemed able to proffer. This could be excellent. The format is great, tell you what you are going to hear, and the words you need, hear a conversation, then recap, with time to practice. Should be great. Two niggles. Firstly - The chirpy, patronising, presenter who keeps on "Speaking In Quotation Marks" all the time as she introduces each section, is a bit of a pain, although bearable. Secondly - They emphasise the informal modes of address. Yea, right, the forms you use to talk to your German friends. (Except you've just bought a basic language course. What German friends are you going to use it on? Why didn't they emphasise what you really need instead of some mythical situation. It's as bad as cheesy chat up lines in an old fashioned ...
