Once again, Rachel has written a book with recipes that you will actually be able to use in everyday life, not just when you've got the time to do some specialist shopping and spend hours in the kitchen. The book is called "favourite food at home" and that's just what you get, if you're looking for something more fiddly or to impress your guests with your brilliant cooking techniques, you should look somewhere else (Gary Rhodes is my tip here). But if all you want is good family meals, this book really gives you a wide variety of choice and you won't be dissapointed. Of course, you've got to have a basic knowledge of cookery to succeed, but that's the case with practically every cookery book apart from those (often quite boring) step-by-step ... Read More:

I bought all of Rachel's books so far and they're all excellent - easy to follow recipes for many occasions. These are cookery books for people with a normal busy life (meaning you don't have the time to spend all day shopping and cooking) who still want good food. There always are some recipes that you can knock up even when you can't really be bothered to cook at all, like "Gremolata Sauce for Pasta", which doesn't even require any actual cooking (apart from the pasta you've only got to chop and mix). The perfect kind of convenience food - fresh, quick and without the nasty stuff you so often find in ready made meals. Of course, the book also contains lots of recipes for those moments when you really do feel like cooking, there's even a chapter ... Read More:

As always with Rachel's books, the recipes are easy to follow and turn out the way you expect them to - so you get great results with a minimum of fuss. There is something for every occasion in this book, as the chapter titles show: "Food for the Soul", "Childhood Favourites", "Making Memories", "Something to Celebrate", "The Lazy Sunday", "An Elegant Afternoon", Pleasure Without the Guilt", "Food for Romance", "For the Love of Chocolate" and "Classic Dishes". I tried the "White Chocolate Buns" and they were dead easy to make, I even managed to whip them up before going to work, something I normally wouldn't be able to do, since I'm not exactly a member of the rise and shine party. They tasted great (funnily like macaroons - very yummy and a bit sticky) ... Read More:

5.Rachel's Diary 2008 (Diary) by: Rachel Allen

 : Rachel's Diary 2008 (Diary)
This so called useful diary has a mere three lines of space for each day. There's more space to write on my calander. Not even useful as an appointment book, let alone as described.

It's a real shame because the diary is really well designed and on high quality paper. If there had been less padding and more space it would have been first rate.

We bought this book - and EVERY DAY by Bill Granger - after seeing Bill on Saturday Kitchen and liking several of his recipes and the way that he presented his program. We haven't been disappointed in a recipe yet. What a fantastic book! His combination of flavours, presentation of his recipes and short, concise instructions are perfect for our family, adults and children alike. We've all enjoyed every single mouthful and we just love cooking Bill's food. We have today ordered another two of Bill's books and can honestly say that we'll be happy to continue cooking - and eating - his recipes for many years to come.

I have been a convert to Bill Granger for years, he is absolutely brilliant. I have all of his books, have made countless recipes and have not been disappointed yet, neither has my husband who enjoys every one!! Even he can follow the recipes and produce excellent results. Have just tried the chocolate filled french toast for breakfast this morning, which I have to say was absolute chocolate heaven, probably not the best thing to eat after going to the gym but it was worth it. If you only ever buy a few cookbooks make sure they are all Bill Granger's, they a feast for the eyes and the soul and make cooking and eating an absolute pleasure.

This book says everything in it's title ""Every Day" .. If you're looking for good, honest, tasty family food that can be eaten at any time of year with easy to follow recipes that don't take too long to prepare, or cook, then this is the book for you. We can't rate it - or another of Bill's books, Simply Bill - highly enough. In fact, we've just bought two more, and after a hard day at work we're just about to cook his "Fragrant Chicken and Spinach Curry". Delicious!!

I have all of Ina's cook books and find them invaluable. Her recipes are easy to follow, delicious and they all have that little bit more when it comes to flavour and impact. Her chicken pot pie is wonderful as is her summer friut crostata. This is easy food with the volume turned up. A great book to have in any kitchen.

I was really looking forward to this book as I am a great NL fan, however, I feel very cheated - so many of the recipes are in her other books and yes they have been reworked but it still feels like a rip off.
