I usually travel with LP so maybe I am a little biased but I did find this book up to their normally high standards. The legendary confusion of Venice's allyways meant I was wary of this book's maps (esp considering LP's less than perfect record in that regard). However I was pleasantly surprised and in 4 days in the city did not get lost using them. It was a little annoying the way they were split across several pages but i guess that was necessary to acheive the accuracy. The tips to the sights and the walking tours were exellent. The restaurant and shopping sections were ok. I cant comment on the hotels section as I was in an apartment. The prices (on everything) and some of the transport details were ... Read More:

They say don't judge a book by its cover, this book at first appears an excellent resource, but in practice is sadly lacking. The maps are inaccurate as is much of the information provided about sights within Rome. This does not live up to the standard I have come to expect from a Lonely Planet Guide.
