Ok, so it's a road/tourist map of Sardinia, but what makes these GeoCentre EuroMaps extra special is the rating system they give to cultural locations and scenic landscapes. This is really handy when you want to know whether to head for town a or town b for dinner or to decide if that squirly road on the map is the scenic road or the road to hell.

Easily the best map I've ever taken on holiday, and if you've been to Italy you'll know you need a map to find your way around.

The group I was in went to Corsica with the main intention of walking the famous GR20. The section of the book about the walk was excellent with detailed information about each days walk, and useful advice about what gear to bring. We found most timings, and suggestions about what gear neccesary to err on the 'safe side'. So someone following the advice here should be ok. Where we did enter civilisation, the info about (budget) restaurants and places to say was fine in our experience. This guide contributed to a great holiday!

This is a good guide book, as all the guide books in the series, but I did expect a bit more from it. I travelled around Italy together with my husband the summer of 2005, and we used this guide book a lot. But it is a guide book, nothing more. There are quite a bit of things that have changed since the book was last edited, but this is expected. We are planning to send the findings we did to the editor, so that it can be added or changed in the next edition, perhaps.
We felt that the book focused too much on churches, castles etc, and a lot of really interesting things were missed - like the local food markets, which we love to visit. There wasn't much of "different" or "special" recommendations, it was just focusing on the "What to see ... Read More:

What, no review yet for this gem, this Koh i Noor that shines in the so often bland and overhyped landscape of travel guides? I'm a guidebook writer myself and know scribes who had the unfortunate task of putting together a competing tome to Rough Guide's Corsica, and were plumb overwhelmed by the task. This book has all the insight, detail, and enthusiasm to carry any intelligent visitor through a rewarding visit to Corsica. And culture culture culture. All exceptionally well written, with no resort-led PR fluff.
