i have only done a couple of the suggested walks and the detail is extraordinary. Also, the hints of how to arrive at the starting point helped me alot. and the fact that some of the walks are exactly what a outdoors enthusiast is after...namely the lesser known walks.

This is THE WORST guide book in the world. Local people of Sicily seem to be the best guides for me. I spent a week in Sicily and every place I visited I would refer to this book. But all these pompous authors wrote were sarcastic and frankly insulting to Sicily. This guide completely avoids how beautiful the Aoelian Islands are, where each island is different and diverse and some with living volcanoes. The only benefit I got from this book was when I was quoting it with locals I met on my travels and at laugh how bad this book really is. Seriously, you can travel to Sicily armed with just a map and phrase book. I wished I did because this rough guide was heavy!

This is THE WORST guide book in the world. Local people of Sicily seem to be the best guides for me. I spent a week in Sicily and every place I visited I would refer to this book. Sketchy and hastily put together. Despite having been updated several times, this guidebook still gets the orientation of Corso Vittorio Emmanuele in Palermo wrong. It does not run north to south. This is based on an Italian publication so there's really no excuse. It also doesn't tell you how to get from the airport to Palermo. The photos are ok though.

This is a short book - 166 pages - and every page is a gem. Nearly every paragraph and certainly all chapters could be read on their own - they make sense, they read beautifully and, more often than not they are very funny. I read Naples'44 years ago and by accident picked up this book and straightaway remembered how brilliantly Lewis writes. I shall now go onto his other books having been a complete idiot not to do so earlier.

This is a short book - 166 pages - and every page is a gem. For these areas, I found the book very useful and informative, in particular the Palermo section. As usual it was set out well and was easily to use. I imagine the other sections are just as useful. The only thing it didn't mention was that while it might be the best beach in Sicily, the rocks behind are yielded some of our major break throughs in understanding climate change! I would reccomend this book and prefer the layout to the rough guides I have used for other places in the past
