This book is terrible! Yes it tells you very briefly about places, but not really where they are. I looked up a place then turned to the map reference given, to find I was then given another page number to check, which was useless. I looked at the book several times before traveling and never even found any details how to get from the airport to the city... A must for a starting point I feel. I have used the Rough Guides in the past, with no problems, I will be sticking to them in future! If your going to Berlin use the internet instead of this book..it all you need.

I have only recently discovered the delights of Germany, and this book provides a decent amount of information to get you started. The history bit at the front, maps and language bit at the back are just three of the particularly useful features of this book. A must for people travelling to Germany.

I had an earlier edition, well-thumbed, but have felt it was getting out-of-date. This new version at last rejigs the whole treatment of the central part of the city. It provides a logical approach for a walking tour for instance, great for becoming re-acquainted with parts of the city that have altered so much in recent years. A city that is on the move and changing so much needs a fresh approach like this. As a frequent visitor, I learned much, and look forward to getting the next edition. I won't hesitate so long again.

Throughly useful book, up to the usual rough guide standards. It's a bit of a weighty tome, which considering it covers of Europe's largest countries is understandable, however this is the trade off for a decent level of detail. Its thankfully free of the "padding" some other guides use as a substitute for thorough reasearch and accurate infomation. I took it on a recent motorcycle trip round the Rhine area. Having lived in this area for a couple of years I was pleased to discover places I'd never found in areas I thought I knew in great detail. I see there is a new guide coming out in May 2009 with different authors/ compilers, I just hope its as good as this one.

I have never given maps much thought before: Bought this map after amazon review recommendation. Yes, excellent. Extremely easy to use & see where going etc. (Although also used another U bahn map as well as routes slightly more detailed than on Rough Guide map) It covers Berlin but but you will need further maps for Wannsee & daytrips from berlin. Overall it was a much better city map than the one my companion bought out there. It folds well is slim & light & the coated paper is supposedly waterproof so map doesn't all fall apart after 1 day's use! Still looks unused. I too shall look out for similar type of map for future trips.
