I have just returned from touring France with my husband, daughter and her friend. We used Alan Rogers Guide to find suitable campsites. Each site was well described with facilities listed clearly and accurately. I would highly recommend this book.

This is a great, easy to use large scale map which would have been perfect for a road trip if it hadn't started to fall apart after just 2 days. The spiral-bound sheets are far too thin and ripped easily.

This is a good guide book, as all the guide books in the series, but I did expect a bit more from it. I travelled around Italy together with my husband the summer of 2005, and we used this guide book a lot. But it is a guide book, nothing more. There are quite a bit of things that have changed since the book was last edited, but this is expected. We are planning to send the findings we did to the editor, so that it can be added or changed in the next edition, perhaps. We felt that the book focused too much on churches, castles etc, and a lot of really interesting things were missed - like the local food markets, which we love to visit. When my book came through the post and flicked through the pages, I actually started juming about and screaming!!! The pictures are so amazing. I was in so much excitement about the holiday I am going on this summer. I am going cycle touring in France, and this book is going to become my bible. Infact I was so impressed by it, I planned my whole route so that I could pick up as many campsites as possible. Trust me, the campsites are totally stunning, well thats if you think stunning is beautiful, rural, and peaceful campsites with breath taking views!

Lots of roads and the scale is good, but we were disappointed that the numbering of roads in the atlas was very patchy and had to be really concentrated on - not always easy when you're driving. Admittedly road numbers on Italian roads are themselves patchy which makes it even more important that an atlas gives as much info to help as possible. It was difficult to look ahead and be reasonably sure we were taking the right turning - and indeed on a number of occasions we weren't! Just not in the same league as the AA atlas of France.

hi, we have travelled around France, Spain and Portugal, for 3 weeks at a time for the last 4 years and we have never been disappointed with any of the sites. The book gives very good directions to the sites.

I'm not sure why this book has received such terrible reviews, it's certainly not bad at all. Yes, it's in French a bit, however the majority of the book deals in symbols, and there are English translations of the symbols, so it's universally understandable. Also, if your French isn't up to understanding the few words contained here, or if you can't use a French dictionary, I'd suggest you'll have trouble filling up with petrol at a French village service station, or staying clear of cheval at a restaurant, for example. We used the Michelin guide 10 years ago for France, and it was invaluable then. This one is similar in the information it contains, and the number of sites it lists.
