This is such an inspiring book. The author's enthusiasm is infectious and his route descriptions are clear; we did lots of the routes and didn't want to come home. Can't wait for our next visit to get into the rest of them. There are plenty of routes of varying lengths and difficulties so whatever kind of walker you are there will be plenty to suit you. Mallorca is a truly beautiful island and should be on the list for everyone who likes walking.

It work for us, but it don't half make you appreciate the good old fashioned Ordnance Survey Map. this was however the best I could find. no complaints.

I've just bought this map (June 2008) for a trip next month and was pleased to see it's been brought up to date (it's copyright 2007). The motorway extends up to just short of Alcudia. We had no probs with it, but didn't tour extensively to be fair. The only problem I had was with it's sheer size. It's certainly not cut out for a front seat passenger to peruse as you drive along! The islands split in to half, one half one side, one the other, and when opened out to it's extreme, it pretty much covered our Focus's windscreen! It would have been preferable to have had the whole island on one side, and some more detailed town maps, and a basic island map, on the other, however, the main thing, is it's up to date

I had walked the Tramuntana with Charles Davis book Walk Mallorca North & Mountains, but this time we were based in the west so I picked up Walk Mallorca West. It was a real surprise to find so many 5 rated routes in what I though was a gentle region of the island. Even the family enjoyed some of the easier routes including two different routes to Sa Trappa. Great value, up to date, accurate and inspirational; gets my vote.

Unfortunately I have to agree with all the other reviewers comments on this book being so out of date. Walkers on Mallorca owe June parker a huge debt for her pioneering work, but since her death in 1998 Walking in Mallorca does not seem to have been updated at all; despite a flashy new cover. Buy it as a collectors item but not as a guide book.

OK, I am used to using high quality maps etc when walking and I am into rather strenuous hill walking. However, I thought that this book would provide me with some nice relaxing strolls when holidaying in the Algarve. I was wrong. The maps included in the book are hopelessly innaccurate and bear little or know resemblance to either the local OS equivalent maps or the actual ground itself. Additionally the route descriptions are very vague at best. I understand that access in Portugal is limited compared to the UK, however, a lot of these walks are simply along roads and so could really be chosen using a road map of the Algarve. I cannot reccomend this book to anybody, it is simply a very poor quality product.

Ive just come back form a family holiday in Mallorca, and I must say this book was a tremendous help. Bits may be dated, sure, but for the big sites like S'Albufera, Boquera etc it was spot on and never left my side in the 2 weeks. So its a must for the first timer to Mallorca. well done Jules

Having watched the second series of this before the first, I really wanted to get my hands on this DVD. It contains less walks, but also has more information on the very person these walks are dedicated to - Alfred Wainwright. Having climbed three of these fells (not many, I know, but I'm working on it) myself, I can appreciate what a mammoth task it must have been to simply climb all 214 of them. But then to undertake the job of documenting them for the enjoyment of others, it's absolutely amazing. The Lakes are a beautiful part of the world, and it's great that these DVD's have been put together to hopefully inspire people to get of their bottoms and out into the hills.
