Canon inks are great and this Canon PGI-5BK is no exception. I'm very very pleased with the results and can foresee myself sticking with Canon printers and their inks. I have regrettably tried a set of compatible inks in the past which produced disgraceful print quality, where the colours ran and mixed with each other on paper. They also made a mess of my printer around the area where the cartridges sit in place. I had gone too far with penny pinching, and quickly went back to the Cannon original inks. It took many and I mean many executions of my printer's self maintenance cleaning software to get it back to its 'as manufacturer intended' state, even after I had changed the ink back to Canon originals. I've given this a low rating for the following reasons: one, the instructions are a bit of a mess. The instructions come in the form of a thick book and a separate sheet. In order to set up the printer, you have to somehow read the book and the sheet at the same time. It's unnecessarily fiddly. Why can't there be a single set of instructions? As it is, you have to keep jumping from one thing to another. Secondly you won't be able to use this machine straight out of the box. For some reason it doesn't have a USB cable. Only when I was reading the setup instructions did I realise this, and I had to go out and buy one before I could use the printer (which I wasn't very happy about). I ordered the Canon MP610 on Sunday and received it from Pixmania (via Amazon) on Wednesday. No complaints there! The machine is surprisingly heavy and does take up quite a bit of space, which is no problem to me as I keep it on a small table next to my desk. Setup is simple and the quality of print far outperforms my previous Brother machine and is the best I've seen from an inkjet printer. The weight, combined with the appearance of the case and components has convinced me that this printer will perform well for many years. To think how many £40.00 printers I've wasted money on......

My brother recently got a Pixma 6600D and asked me to order a set of 6 carts. Having an account with Amazon I thought these were a good price but ouch - the postage ended up MORE than the price of the cartridges. OK, I should have checked before clicking confirm but when postage on a small package tends to be a few pounds I expected something below a fiver. Having had a heart attack I would feel guilty passing on the postage cost in full so I shall now end up out of pocket thanks to the unclear cost.

Ordered this item, waited 2 weeks for delivery then they cancelled my order because they say they are out of stock. Looked up this item again and there web page says in stock the only differance is the price is £2 higher. Not up to Amazon standard and supprised they use them.
