What a terrible game. A collection of boring mini games, it follows a similar format to brain training but is not nearly as good.

Bought this game as my 12 year old is still struggling with times tables. Too much reliance on calculators and kids today can't do simple mental arithmetic any more. If this is your problem then this game is likely to help, especially if you can motivate too. Simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems to be done in your head and quickly. Presented in a way that is reasonably fun, addictive and motivates you to do more and get better, but it's no competition for the PS3 and GTA4!! Some irritations like problems in recognising some writing, though you improve with time, and too much time wasted between games, though you can tap your way through.

I bought this prior to a family holiday to France. Not having any previous experience of Brain Training, I decided to go for this version rather than the original after reading other reviews, and what a joy it was. I kept the game hidden until we boarded the ferry. When I got it out, I was expecting cries of 'oh no! Not brain training - why did you get that mum??' BUT instead all were delighted, and the whole family, young and old, played it every single day of our trip, and indeed fighted over who's turn it was. I highly recommend this game if you are planning a long journey, or just want to provide your family with some educational entainment that everyone can enjoy that doesnt involve the telly.

I bought this game based on previous reviews and I can tell you that I was not disappointed. It is much better than Tetris and bejewelled. It starts off nice and easy and increases in difficulty to keep you on your toes. There are several options including daily play and you can personalise the colour scheme both background and blocks.
I let my mother have a try and now have to wrestle it off her. Fun for all the family and will make the time pass very quickly.
Since buying this I have neglected my other games, it is that good.

This game is suitable for all ages - and by that I do mean adults and children. We all play this game and compete head to head, which is really fun for everyone. There are lots of different mini games (15, I think!) which are split into 5 categories. In practice mode you can pick any game and you then get given a bronze, silver or gold signifying how well you have done. In test mode, you are given a random game from each category and then you are given a grade on how well you have done. Would definitely recommend this for unlimited fun!

I bought this DS French course out of desperation - my daughter started French at a new school and all the other kids had already done 2-3 years of it so she was behind everyone else. I bought this because she loves using her DS and I knew she would be more likely to use this software than to sit with me for the same length of time learning vocabulary. Within a week she had learnt the numbers 1-13, colours, days of the week, months, etc. and she has now nearly caught up the other kids in her class. As an adult I would prefer to go to a language class if I were learning a new language, but for a DS-mad kid this is a really good way of learning.

I just got this game today and am hooked already. As an older Nintendo fan (40 something), I don't play all the shoot 'em up or beat the clock type games. I like games that I can play at my leisure and think about. This is definitely the one to have. Got it hooked up to my wireless internet easily and was playing backgammon with someone in no time. It's not one of those games where once you play to the end, you're done. Lots of variety and I'm sure it will keep me entertained for hours, days, even months to come.

I've just bought this game and very impressed with the fact that when you start the game for the first time, it tests you on your knowledge, that way you don't have to waste time on words you might already know. That said, I opted to start at the very beginning as I didn't want to miss anything.

Since starting, Ive found it relatively addictive. I agree with one of the other reviews, when they said that it tends to just teach you words as opposed to sentences, but then I bought it to extend my vocabulary, which it is already doing.

I also bought this from Amazon, but have been sent the version with the Spanish flag (not Mexican).

The only negative point is that she speaks so quickly! I've gone into the setting to slow ... Read More:

Perhaps the title of the game is a little misleading: this is a simple vocabulary builder and does lack any aspect of grammar. Another reviewer complained that there is no pronunciation guide and while this is true, I would expect that at Intermediate level, most learners would be able to work out pronunciation for themselves. This game isn't aimed at complete beginners and that's made perfectly clear on the front of the box.

The games start off pretty simple on Easy mode and as you progress, Medium is unlocked. The games are challenging on Medium but by no means impossible within the time limits given. Surely the whole point of a game like this is to challenge, though?

Overall, I like it. It's not perfect- there are many areas which ... Read More:
