This is not a bad book, it is very comprehensive and well written, so it is fun to read and contains useful information. It seems intended to be read through more than as a reference book. However, in my opinion it is a bit too much. The information overloads the reader and then it is difficcult to remember the key things a new mom has to have in mind.It would suit you if you have a control freak side and want to know absolutelly everything about -1 yr old babies. It won't suit you if you are an aprehensive person.

This perfect for very young babies. To an adult eye (or any child over maybe 6 months) it's something and nothing. BUT, let your baby decide. You'll see it's so very well suited to him/her. Six pages of simple faces or patterns that mesmerise very young babies. We used ours with our daughter from aged 4 weeks. We would just have it open were she could see it and she'd become calm and transfixed. The contrasts delight little babies. A fabulous value for money first book for the very small.

I have recommended this book to everyone. It's full of good advice for different weaning stages. And I cook the 9months + recipes for my husband...he always says how nice they are and then I tell them that the meal was designed for a 12 month old!! Lovely food for babies, toddlers, and adults.

I have found this very easy to use and it is minimally invasive (making it excellent for the younger members of the family). Good for adults too as it is very quick and easy to do on yourself. I have found that the plastic protectors can be wiped with a disinfectant wipe and re-used.

I bought this just a few weeks before my first baby was born at the end of last year, I found the first couple of chapters on general baby care and newborn very useful but then as the months went by, Gina seems to imply your baby 'should' be doing this and that and I sometimes felt that my baby didnt measure up to her exacting standards and her patronising tones made me feel inadequate as a first time mother. Her strict routines are well known and of course they are in here, not as detailed as in some of the other books but detailed enough for those of us who seem to muddle through and have babies not so suited to routines. I bought this book, hoping to help me with my daughters sleeping, and routine. Instead it made me feel like the worst mother ever. I was trying to do things with her, that made no sense, kept trying to make her sleep all the time, when she shouldn't have been. Such a terrible book, don't buy it, it will confuse you, and make you feel rubbish!!!!!

This book and Gina's approach are by far the most thoughtful and most understanding of a babies needs i.e good sleep means good feeding means good sleep. It is not and never intends to be prescriptive and looking through many of these reviews I am disapointed that the reviewers are not able to see that Gina is giving a system to meet your babies needs - she assumes that you know how to cuddle and love your baby so obviously does not give you a time to day to do it!! I for one needed to be reminded to take care of myself and really appreciated Gina's advice on diet to support breast feeding and having breakfast! I am consistently amazed by the level of feeling around Gina's structured approach as I know my daughter, my many nieces and nephews have thrived ... Read More:

My newborn baby loves this little fold out book and I get great pleasure from seeing her happy with it. I wish I had bought a few of these as I use this one inside her pram during the day (I peg it around the inside of her pram) and also move it to place it along the wall at the side of her changing area. She is transfixed by the mirror page and stares at it for ages quietly while I'm changing her. She is also fascinated by the other pages too but nothing like the little mirror. I line the fishy mirror up to exactly where her face is (in the pram or on the changing unit) so she can see in it. Worth every penny in exchange for those lovely quiet moments for me and the amusement for her!

We have an eight month old baby and have just purchased this monitor. We had previously been using our Tommee Tippee Ultimate sensor monitor which has been great too but for the last couple of months the alarm has gone off several times a night where the baby has rolled off the sensor mat. I was not happy about spending yet more money on another monitor but for peace of mind decided I should. At last a peaceful nights sleep!! The Babysense mats are great and do cover the whole cot area. There is no sound monitor though so I still use the one from my Tommee Tippee. I would definately recommend this product to those purchasing their first monitor but would suggest that they also purchase a basic audio monitor to work alongside it

All I can say is WOW! Not only did the music create a lovely bed time routine with some of the songs that I already knew and could sing to, but it totally chilled out my daughter and sent her off to sleep, and I felt relaxed too! This is a must have.
