Despite some rather negative comments about this cat scarer once we had re-positioned it once or twice we have been able to bid good-bye to the cats crapping in our front garden. I can thoroughly recommend it and we are now considering getting another one for the back garden. Brilliant!

I really have noticed that duracell 9 volt batteries last longer and provide more of a shock to my tounge than most 9 volt batteries. They are also hardwearing, not that this is particularly important for a battery, but there are some cheap ones that break basically from falling on the floor! These batteries managed to power a range of electrical appliances in my house, and that is all I`m asking of them. Let`s face it: batteries are basic, and with these ones perfection is almost there. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 was because they are not rechargable - simple as that. I originally bought this from B&Q and loaded it with batteries. It was great for a week but then started squarking. I got a replacment from B&Q but this was no better. I spoke directly to the company (STV) and they were very good, they exchanged and sent me a replacement, this was OK but I could hear it - they told me that I should definitely not be able to and have sent me yet another replacment. This time it appears to be OK but it has only been on for an hour, we'll see how it goes. I have a feeling that it becomes audible when the batteries get low - anyone having problems should try loading new batteries. Even though I could hear them they did appear to be effective.

I got this because my neighborhood cats seem to think that my garden is the best loo ever! The cat-gard is mains operated so you need to be able to plug it in somewhere, but the cable is a good length. It seems to be working partially, we still seem to have at least 1 determined cat. However, the quantity of cat poo has reduced since I installed this. You need to take into consideration the fact that this will only work on hearing cats - so if your troublesome moggy is old and may have poor hearing then this may not be the device for you. I wish that this had been 100% successful, but it does seem to be deterring some of culprits at least.

Used it in ultrasonic mode on my neighbours barking-mad dogs and even at point blank range they just ignore it or bark more aggresively, never mind 20 feet away.Utterly useless! Even using the sonic mode only deters them slightly as they pause and then carry on as normal. WOTAM - Waste of time and money!

We saw a similar product on holiday in Turkey, so I sought out these Philips LED Rechargeable Candle Lights on my return last year and shall be buying them for others as Christmas gifts this year. They look so pretty when "lit". You literally just turn them upside down to turn on or off. Great idea if you like candles but have children around.
