I've listened to this drivel - the record and all the hyped-up reviews of Duffy - and finally I've had enough. It's rubbish. 'You got me beggin', you got me beggin', you got me beggin' ad nauseum. Even dance songs can have good lyrics, it has happened. And enough already of these affected warbling or bellowing, sinus-afflicted girls (Adele's another...) I'm not hearing anything great here. And as for the Dusty comparisons, just just insulting to Dusty's versatility and emotional/vocal dynamic range. For god's sake, Duffy is plain Duff.

Was wondering what to buy recently when I saw a review of this album and an interview with the singer in a sunday magazine.Turns out that this is a brilliant album,and has traces of blues,gospel,pop,country,and a touch of the brilliant Karen Carpenter about it. Stand-out tracks for me include the intense deep gospel of Nobody's Fault But Mine and One Cloud,and the lighter yet still uplifting pop of So Sublime and i Shall Be Released. A varied collection then in some ways,yet with a pleasing undercurrent of blues running throughout the whole album to string it all together and give it a sense of identity. Really uplifting and at times extremely powerful! For once the hype may be justified!

Much like Her 2004 debut album, 'The 18th Day', Shine proves to be an outstanding contribution to the world of UK hip-hop. Featuring collaborations from Kanye West, Will.i.am, Cee-Lo & John Legend, the album had all the ingredients to be a major success. A very summer feeling on the record, and a 2008 must buy!!

This album can in no way be described as groundbreaking-but who cares-it takes the best parts of 'Smile' and builds upon them-for me 'Smile' was good and at times great, but it didn't quite work as a whole, whereas this album most definitely does and to be honest there's not a bad track on it: 1.The Devils Beat-Not a great choice of single, but I do like it and it probably is the most original track. 7.5/10 2.Shape I'm In-Generic pop and I love it! Catchy and melodic; brill vocals! 9/10 3.Wounded Hearts-My least favourite song on the album-forgettable. 6/10 4.Saturday Night-Catchy pop ditty! 8/10 5.Beatbox-Growing on me immensely, an intelligent song. 8/10 6.Remote Control Me-Great fun and what Sandi does absolutely ... I don't really think, that we need this re-release version of the album, that is not actual anymore! Up to my mind, everyone Rihanna fan would like to see her new material, something original, not this old tracks and just 3 new songs that isn't brilliant! The best track on this commercial album is "Take A Bow". Buy a single, not this commercial release.

Sick of one hit wonders? It's all too common - one good song and an album full of filler. To my mind, this album actually surpasses the promise of the single "Love Song". The more you listen, the more there is to like. If I'm honest, I barely listened to anything else for the last month - and that was an act of will. Her music combines melodies that will stay with haunt you for days with variety and genuinely clever lyrics. If you like the slightly quirky off-beat feel of "Love Song", try listening to "Fairytale", or "Morningside". For sad ballads, you'll be hard-pressed to find better than "Between the Lines", "City" and "Gravity". If you like slightly jazzy Norah Jones style, try "Vegas" or "or "One Sweet Love".

This is really a nice discovery, if you don't know Melody Gardot's tunes. I didn't know of her before listening to this, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the awful cover concealed a tight little collection of songs. The production takes up the baton from, say, Ray La Montagne or Madeleine Peyroux, if you happen to know either of those chaps, being all smoky clubs and drum brushes and minor key niceness. Though it could be said to threaten, it never drops into hokey caricature, but delivers I think an honest collection of songs, well worth repeated listening.

Have I missed something here in this assortment of music tracks? The styles are all over the place and together in this order not many of these tracks flow at all! I prefer these compilations to stick to a certain time line or theme. I don't know what 'my songs' is on about, but to put current chart music with ones that are at least 18 years of age, ie, fluffy clouds - I don't get it! This should have been a single CD compilation without the incompatible extras. 3 stars as there are a few fab British artists with super songs in it!
